Overview:
The Outwell Tennessee 5 is a superb family tent with exceptional living space, sleeping space and a large integrated front porch area for storage and relaxing. The intuitive inflatable design allows this large shelter to be fully pitched in 20 minutes, perfect for weekends away, family camping trips and extended family holidays. The three-zone design has become a "must-have" for family campers requiring versatile space, the front porch area operates as a "wet room", ideal for storing equipment and shoes. The interior features a fully sewn-in, sealed groundsheet with both front and side entry and fold-flat groundsheet doors to the front, ideal for wheelchairs and prams.
The Premier bedrooms offer darkened fabric to reduce early morning light and lengthen sleeping time over the Summer months. This is ideal for those with younger children. The bedroom retains excellent breathability with mesh ventilation throughout, aiding a reduction in condensation.
Ideal For: The Tennessee 5 is for longer family holidays, weekends away and touring camping. It's quick and easy to pitch, providing a perfect space for relaxing, cooking, and dining, with comfortable space for the family of 3-4 people.
Key Features:
- Lightweight Polyester Fabric retains great durability and weather resistance but also has greater lightweight features, ensuring the shelter remains small and compact compared to larger family shelters.
- Three-Zone Design: Social, storage and sleeping areas with versatile options.
- Premier Bedrooms: These enclosed sleeping compartments with a toggled divider allow the camper to have one large or two separate bedrooms. The fabric is darkened to help reduce the impact of the sunrise, but they are not Blackout bedrooms.
- Sewn-in Groundsheet: The living space has a fully sealed, sewn-in groundsheet underneath the sleeping bedrooms. This is perfect for preventing draughts, increasing warmth, and protecting the space from the elements.
- Mesh Ventilation: There are large internal mesh windows (with toggled curtains) and a secondary mesh panel to the side door, the Tennessee offers plenty of airflow to reduce condensation. The mesh ventilation is also ideal for cooling the tent on warmer days.
- Inflatable Design: A quick and intuitive pitching system allowing this product to be pitched in 20 minutes.
- Front and Side Access: Versatile entry and exit options to allow for variances in the weather conditions.
- Fold-flat groundsheet to the Front: Ideal for access for prams or wheelchairs. It can be zipped closed to the flysheet door when not required.
- Wind Brace System: Webbing is used to support the air tubes to prevent excess movement and stability in windier conditions.
- Pegs, pump, and carry bag included.

Berth |
5 Man
Details
Berth – This shows the number of people that the tent can sleep within the inner tents of a model of tent, in line with the industry standard. Normal procedure is to look for a slightly larger tent, for example, a family of four usually purchase a five or six berth tent, to give added room and comfort. |
Hydrostatic Head (mm) |
4000
Details
Hydrostatic Head (Tents) – a waterproof rating for technical fabrics measured in mm. The higher the rating the more waterproof the fabric is. A rating of 1500mm is deemed waterproof, but on a tent, look for a rating of 3000 or higher. Measured by the height of water column a fabric weave can take before it begins to “sweat”. “Polycotton” tents will not have a Hydrostatic Head level, as they are not treated for waterproofing. |

Outtex® 4000 Select Polyester
Details
Polyester – a synthetic fibre, made from polymer units to create a textile fabric. Polyester is the most popular fabric for tent manufacturing, as it is durable, reliable and lighter in weight. Polyester does not breathe though, which creates more condensation. Polycotton - a blend of polyester and cotton, primarily cotton (usually around 65% cotton / 35% polyester split). Polycotton is a more natural fabric for camping, as it is breathable, far more durable material, reducing the effects of condensation. Offers greater versatility in hot and cold climates. Ripstop Nylon – a durable material used in tents which is strong and repairable due to its Ripstop properties. |
Fabric Denier |
70 Denier (Polyester)
Details
Denier - a measurement used to determine the thickness of the tent flysheet. It relates to the fibre thickness, or thread counts used. The thicker the fabric, generally the stronger, and more durable the fabric will be. The denier really reflects the lifetime to be expected of the tent, and how quickly, it will be affected by UV Degradation. |
