Seems a silly thought, when you think about it - a carpet - for a tent!? However, over the years, matching or universal tent carpets have become incredibly popular with campers for a mulitude of reasons.
Tent Carpets
These are designed to sit in the living space of your tent, and offer some comfort and warmth to the living space. The carpet will take the edge off the cold groundsheet, and will be ideal for those wanting to go camping during the earlier season.
Difference between fitted and universal carpets?
A fitted carpet, will sit in your tent wall to wall, and is specifically made to measure for that specific tent. A universal carpet is made to measure across many styles and sizes of tent, and is a generic fit, which will cover most of the living space inside of the tent.
Benefits of a Carpet
- Adds a layer of insulation against the cold ground - making it perfect for barefoot campers. Furthermore, the insulation from the cold ground is very helpful when camping in early or late season - Spring or Autumn, when the night time temperatures are much lower.
- Adds homeliness to the interior of the tent
- PVC backed, adds another layer of waterproofing to the tent groundsheet.

Drive Away Awning Carpets
Drive away awning carpets work on the same concept at the tent carpets, and have the same design, which is a PVC backed carpet, with a soft feel topper. They are not a breathable base carpet, with a PVC backed lining. Again, each carpet is designed to fit into each specific model of awning.
Caravan Awning Carpets
These are a different style of carpet, and are designed to be breathable, so as not to kill off the grass underneath. They are also stronger, due to many campsite pitches being hard standing, the caravan awning carpets needs added durability, as most awnings do not have a matching footprint groundsheet to lie underneath. Each carpet is cut to fit the shape and size of the specific caravan awning, and should provide full cover for the dimensions of the matching awning. A great example below, of which you should have a carpet for an awning - as many hard standing pitches are gravel or stone - so its important to have something softer, more comfortable covering your awning living space.
